Life is a dark force It is a show for living rooms and unconventional spaces.. Mix critical thinking with humor. Combine poetry, performance and politics. Take concepts directly into action. Shake the public, making you think and laugh at the same time.
Its starting point is the discomfort caused by the excess of artificial light that exists today. (restaurants, shops, supermarkets, Offices, hospitals, schools, libraries, casas, streets…) From here it is about the world of excesses in which we live, in which reality is fully confused with capitalism.
The show is planned as a ritual, a way to get through the night to leave this world, to stop being what reality forces us to be.
Directed by Piero Steiner, The piece is inspired by texts by the philosopher Santiago Lopez Petit, especially in his book Children of the Night. It was released from 13 al 16 of October 2022 in the Old Theater of Barcelona.
SYNOPSIS
X and Z are children of the night. Fed up with the discomfort caused by excess artificial light, they decide to take action. Become shadows, Go through the darkness to live in a world where the stars can be seen.
EXCESS, EXCESS... THAT'S IT
Interrupt, short circuit….and also invent other ways to experience and resist. Create a us. Create other worlds, more habitable, simpler, less aggressive, with more beauty, silence, stillness, reflection.
Each part of the show is based on an excess/concept based on the main theme. The sum of these concepts opens a shared journey and at the same time creates dramaturgy:
THE DISCOMFORT OF LIGHT: The discomfort that its excess causes us. The lack of good taste and the dominance of the shabby.
THE BLINDING LIGHT: The superficiality. In this over-illuminated world, only the surface is taken into account.. The topics, the great enemies of thinking. Starting with the topic of light as a symbol of good, of the truth, of being. The obviousness of this reality.
THE EXCESS OF BEING (The illuminated): From pseudo-spirituality to entrepreneurs and coaching. Converting political problems into personal problems (You are the only culprit). The therapeutic society.
THERE IS ONLY WHAT IS SEEN: The obligation to become a brand and be permanently in the window. postmodern fascism. We are the batteries of capitalism. how ourselves, living, we reproduce the world we live in.
HOW TO STOP BEING: Against the obligation of Being that traps us, tag us, identifies us. The vindication of the interiority in front of the self Mark what we have become.
